Your First Visits

Your first visits to our office are most important. We want to get to know you and learn how we can best help you fulfill your dental needs and desires. Since we treat the whole person, not just mouths, Dr. Maynard feels that establishing a positive relationship based on mutual trust is vital to achieving our common goals.

Some patients first visit will involve an emergency. In these situations, Dr. Maynard will need to see you as soon as possible. We will take care of your emergency situation first and make sure you are comfortable. In fact, if you ever have an emergency, you can rest assured we will see you and get you comfortable the same day.

“Haste Makes Waste”
This old saying is as true in dentistry as it is in most areas of our lives. We pride ourselves on taking time to be thorough and complete in getting to know you and planning your dental treatment.

First, we will gather all pertinent information about you and your dental situation. This will include a medical history, a dental history, all necessary x-rays, photographs, and a complete periodontal (gum) evaluation, as well as an initial dental cleaning.

Once he has this information, Dr. Maynard will examine your mouth and discuss with you, in detail, your expectations regarding your treatment. At this time, you will be encouraged to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. If necessary, we have videos that explain in lay terms many of the technical procedures used in dentistry today. We want you to have a good understanding of your dental situation so you can make an informed decision regarding treatment.

When you and Dr. Maynard have decided on a treatment plan, our treatment coordinator will discuss the fees with you, as well as payment options, taking into account your dental insurance.

Our patients tell us this is one of the most thorough dental examinations they have ever experienced. We take that as a very high compliment. This initial examination will take approximately 2 ½ hours and can be accomplished in 1, 2, or 3 visits depending on what is most convenient for you.
