Veneers

If you have ever desired a more perfect smile, you’re not alone. The good news? It is never too late to improve your look, and in turn, have a lasting impact on both you outlook and opportunities in life. If you smile is in need of better function and aesthetics — porcelain veneers are a great solution. As thin sheaths of dental grade porcelain that are affixed to the front facing parts of teeth, veneers deliver flawless smiles — that last.

This innovative cosmetic dentistry service quickly transforms smiles, concealing and correcting any number of flaws instantly to deliver the picture-perfect smiles every one of our patients deserves. We use high-quality porcelain materials in order to ensure durable, long-lasting results that look and feel great. The porcelain veneer process is completed over the course of two short visits to our office. During an initial appointment, we remove a small amount of enamel from the fronts of teeth, capture bite impressions, and place a temporary restoration to protect teeth. Dr. Singh personally goes to the lab and works closely with the porcelain ceramist, discusses the final outcome with photos, and studies their dental models. A trusted dental lab custom crafts a set of veneers, and when we receive the final solution, we exchange the temporary for the custom porcelain veneer. Some of the many reasons patients choose porcelain veneers include:

  • To correct the shape or length of misshapen or worn teeth
  • To brighten smiles that are not responsive to teeth whitening
  • To straighten teeth and even out the spaces between teeth
  • To conceal any number of chips, cracks, or fractures

Teeth Whitening

woman with white smile smiling

Has your smile darkened over the years? Stains will accumulate over time due to the natural aging process as well as your lifestyle habits. Foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, soda, red wine, or berries darken teeth, while things like smoking or chewing tobacco can cause teeth to turn yellowish brown. Fortunately, there is a solution.

Teeth whitening is an easy and effective way to brighten your smile and improve your appearance. You will leave 3-4 shades brighter in just one hour! Our custom whitening trays are fabricated and the whitening process is completed at home. While you may finish whitening at home, our team will be with you throughout the process.

Over the years, Dr. Singh has worked with many teeth whitening systems — and, has a prescription-strength home whitening kit complete with custom-fitted mouth trays provides the best results. The benefits of a home system include:

  • Effectiveness—Since the whitening gel is held in close contact with your teeth for an extended period of time, home whitening is very effective.
  • Comfort—Sensitivity is rarely a problem with take-home teeth whitening. Dr. Singh has developed procedures for overcoming this sensitivity in those rare instances that it does occur.
  • Long-Lasting Value and Convenience—Since the whitening trays can be used over and over, you can maintain your white, bright smile over the years for a minimal cost.

You should understand that any existing fillings, bonding, or crowns will not whiten. For this reason, you may want to have them replaced to match your new, whiter teeth.

Metal-Free Restorations

Metal free, all-ceramic restorations are some of our most popular treatment options. These restorative dentistry solutions allow us to renew the look and feel of damaged teeth simultaneously, blurring the line between cosmetic and restorative care. There are a number of materials available to create custom, long-lasting crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays. Traditionally, gold and metal amalgam was the trusted solution especially for back teeth that need to be strong enough to absorb great amounts of pressure. However, these restorative solutions are clearly visible within patients’ smiles, and they are not always the best options for front facing teeth. Porcelain bonded to metal restorations allow for a more cosmetic solution, but over time, the porcelain can wear away, revealing the dark-colored metal below. All-ceramic restorations blend seamlessly into patients’ smiles, are durable and long lasting, and even with years of wear, they retain their completely natural appearance.

Lumineers

Would you prefer to retain as much of your natural tooth enamel as possible? Even if you have multiple smile imperfections, including tooth stains, chipped or misshapen teeth, or gaps, Lumineers offer a reasonable alternative solution. These ultra-thin sheaths are even thinner than traditional veneers, meaning that you won’t need to have your existing enamel modified just to ensure they sit flush. If you decide that you’d rather go back to your original smile, removing Lumineers is just as easy as placing them!

Direct Bonding

Are there any aspects of your smile you’re less than happy with such as minor chips, cracks, gaps, or discoloration? Dr. Rina Singh and her dedicated dental team offer a variety of cosmetic and restorative dentistry services to improve smiles, but dental bonding is one of the fastest and most affordable options. Cosmetic bonding uses the same composite resin we utilize for tooth-colored fillings to conceal minor flaws. This treatment can be used for more complex dental damage, but it is better suited for minimal areas as the composite resin material is unable to withstand large amounts of dental force as long as porcelain and other restorative materials. Cosmetic bonding can be completed in a single visit to our Camp Hill dental practice. We apply the putty-like resin to the affected tooth, shape it into position to rebuild lost structure or conceal flaws, and harden the bonding into place with a curing light. The entire process is fast, effective, and virtually painless.

Gum Recontouring

Sometimes it’s not the enamel that may be concerning you, but your gum tissue instead. For example, if you believe that your smile appears “gummy” or your teeth look smaller or shorter than you’d prefer, gum recontouring is likely the best solution. Using our soft tissue dental laser, we can gently remove small amounts of gum tissue and make your smile look larger, fuller, and more even. Thanks to this technology, we can even reduce the amount of time necessary for the gums to heal.

Digital Imaging

If you’ve never completed cosmetic dental treatment before, you may feel hesitant about doing so at first, especially if you aren’t confident about what your final smile will look like. Digital imaging technology ensures that you can set expectations ahead of time as well as determine which cosmetic treatment would most effectively achieve your dream smile. Simply provide us with an up-to-date photo and we’ll simulate your next treatment, whether it’s teeth whitening, porcelain veneers or something else!

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs

Woman receiving cosmetic dentistry in Camp Hill

Cosmetic dentistry often comes with many questions. Depending on the issues you want to address, you may wonder about the process, potential cost, timeline, and maintenance required for your new smile. Dr. Singh and her team understand your decision to choose any of our available services should come with careful consideration, which is why she is here to provide answers to the following frequently asked questions. We invite you to review the information below and contact us should you have any additional questions.

Can cosmetic dentistry be performed on teenagers?

Dr. Singh does treat children and teenagers in-office; however, the type of cosmetic dentistry that can be performed on younger smiles is limited. A scheduled consultation must be conducted before starting any type of treatment, and the decision to move forward is ultimately up to the cosmetic dentist. Some teens can experience positive results with teeth whitening, metal-free restorations, and direct bonding. However, other options are much more advanced and should be avoided until the individual is older and their oral structures are no longer developing.

Can cosmetic dentistry do more than improve aesthetics?

Yes! Cosmetic dentistry is known for its ability to improve oral health as well. When dealing with cracked, chipped, or damaged teeth, choosing the right method of treatment can offer many unique advantages, including:

  • Improving your bite by addressing misshapen teeth with veneers, Lumineers, or metal-free restorations
  • Greater confidence because you’ll be happy with the way your smile looks and want to take better care of your teeth and gums
  • Reduced risk of gum disease by removing excess gum tissue and creating a more uniform gum line
  • Offering protection to damaged and decayed teeth with metal-free restorations

Will my results be permanent?

This is dependent upon the type of cosmetic treatment you receive. Porcelain veneers are considered a permanent solution; however, you will need to have them replaced every 10-15 years. Gum recontouring is also a permanent method of treatment because we are removing excess gum tissue. This allows you to embrace a more beautiful smile for the rest of your life. Lumineers, metal-free restorations, and teeth whitening do require regular replacements if you want to extend your results.

Is cosmetic dentistry covered by dental insurance?

Unfortunately, no, most cosmetic services are not covered by dental insurance. There are only a few exceptions, one of which is if you require a dental crown or restoration to protect a weakened tooth. Otherwise, you’ll be expected to identify an alternative way to pay. Fortunately, Dr. Singh and our team are pleased to offer affordable financing through CareCredit as well as an in-office dental savings plan for uninsured individuals.
